Please read this. It
contains important information about our NFTO Chamber meeting
in Athens, May, 2004!
Summary
of the NFTO/EFTA Meetings, November, 2003
The NFTO Board met with the
General Board of EFTA at the end of November, 2003. This
Newsletter reports on our progress so far, and draws your
attention to some key issues for our discussion at our forthcoming
Chamber meeting in Athens, May 28-29.
1. NFTO
Chamber Meeting, Athens, May 28-29
We
write to remind you of this meeting and to say how much
we are looking forward to meeting all our representatives
again. We have much to discuss, as you will see
from the documents attached to this Newsletter.
Based
on your previous feedback we have allocated a day and a
half for our NFTO Chamber meetings. We shall meet all day Friday, May
28, and Saturday morning,
May 29. Saturday afternoon will include a full EFTA General
Assembly to vote on our new Statutes, and a presentation
from our Greek hosts.
Please
remember that we have invited you to bring the Chairperson
of your National Association to this Chamber meeting, or
another member of your Board if you yourself
are currently Chairperson. To remind you, we agreed
at our last NFTO Chamber meeting that each NFTO Chamber representative
would invite a member of their National Association Board
to this next meeting , a) to broaden the discussion of our
aims and objectives, and b) to find
opportunities to reach more of our membership.
2. Voting
Procedures
If
you intend to represent your National Association during
the year 2004-2005, please bring a signed letter from your
Board to the Athens meeting, confirming that you are
their representative. If you plan to step down this year,
please let us know who will replace you.
At
the Athens meeting, we shall plan our voting procedures
for the NFTO Board elections in Berlin, September 30th, 2004.
3. NFTO
Vision Statement
The NFTO Board met in
October to discuss and develop priorities for the NFTO
Chamber. Please discuss the attached Vision Statement with
your National Association Board and colleagues and bring
your comments to our NFTO Chamber
for debate. We hope to agree our priorities for the next
2-3 years.
As
you will see from the Vision Statement, some of the proposed
initiatives will cost money in terms of travel costs and
working party meetings.
4. Proposed
Increase of Fee
As
you know our current budget only supports NFTO Board meetings.
If we take on any additional activities, we need to seek
funding from our NFTO members.
The NFTO
Board proposes an increase in the annual fee of €100,
from 700 to 800. We shall keep the reduced fee for smaller
countries and for countries with exchange rate difficulties.
We shall vote on this proposal at our Chamber meeting
in May.
5. EFTA
Statutes
The
General Board of EFTA has approved the final draft of the
EFTA Statutes. The document is attached here. The
NFTO Chamber will vote on the EFTA Statutes at the May meeting.
6. The
Berlin Conference (29th September 2nd October
2004)
Kurt
Ludewig and the local organising committee are doing well.
The final Programme is almost complete and is available
on the website:
www.efta2004.de
All
NFTOs have been asked to help advertise the conference:
- by placing an advertisement in their
news magazines/journals; and
- by sending a copy of the conference
programme to all their members.
This
is the only advertising for the conference. Please let
Kurt know how you can help with advertising:
LudewiK@mednet.uni-muenster.de
7. Minimum
Training Criteria for Family Therapy Trainers
Roberto
Pereira presented the final draft of the Training Criteria
document at the November meeting. Thank you to those of
you who gave feedback.
We
have attached the document to this Newsletter.
We
shall vote on this document at our May Chamber meeting.
8. Code
of Ethics of EFTA
Thank
you to all those who gave us feedback on the first draft.
Enclosed with this Newsletter is a copy of the latest draft.
Since EFTA is a complex
organisation of individuals, training institutes and
National Associations, we shall seek a European lawyers
opinion before publishing them
in the new EFTA Directory.
9. NFTO
Chamber Members
We
now have 18 registered member countries in the NFTO Chamber.
We held a meeting with the representatives of France, Italy
and Belgium to clarify the situation in their
country and ask if we could be of any help.
Arlene
will follow up this meeting with a letter to these three
countries. Thank you to Jannigje Bolk for her work as our
Administrative Secretary.
Thank you to Charis Katakis
and Jaakko Seikkula for their work on the Scientific Committee
of EFTA.
Thank
you to Barbara Kohnstamm for her work as a co-opted member
of the Board.
Thank you to Eric Louis for
his work as NFTO Treasurer and General Treasurer of EFTA.
Thank
you to Kurt Ludewig for his work on the EFTA conference.
Thank
you to Ineke Muinen for her work as NFTO Secretary.
Thank
you to Roberto Pereira for his work on the Training Standards
Working Party.
Thank
you to Jakko Seikkula for his work on the EFTA Statutes.
And
a final big thank you to all the NFTO Chamber representatives
and the National Associations for
your continuing help and support!
The
NFTO Board wish all our Chamber representatives a very
Happy New Year!
